Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes

Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes

One of the most incredible things you will ever see and experience.  An amazing mountain of sand almost 500 feet tall.  You can take it in on the scenic look out or if you are up for it, walk down it to the bottom and a swim in Lake Michigan.  BE CAREFUL THE WALK BACK UP IS NOT FOR THE WEAK OR TIMID.  But an experience you will never forget.

CLICK THE PHOTO on the right for a write up by ABC news and a short video from Good Morning America, whose viewers voted it the #1 most beautiful spot in America for 2011.

Leland blends the heritage of a 140 year old fishing village with the subtle sophistication of modern life. The striking natural beauty and easy, relaxed atmosphere has drawn artists, writers, heads of government and industry and countless others to the area and continues to be a powerful lure to those seeking something unique.

The village boasts excellent lodging, fine restaurants and a wide variety of shops, from historic Fishtown shanties to the clothing, book, antique and gift shops along Main Street. Many shops and galleries feature works by local artists and treasures from around the world. Charter fishing trips and excursions to the Manitou Islands are available in the fine Leland Harbor.

Nearby visitors can find farm markets, award-winning vineyards and wineries, golf courses, the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Leelanau's other quaint villages. (Text courtesy of the Leland Business Association)
